I’m losing my patience with my new iX. Every 30 seconds, this annoying child safety latch malfunction warning pops up, but only when someone’s sitting in the passenger seat. If I just ignore it, it sometimes gets worse and then hits me with a “passenger restraint system malfunction” too. I already took it to the dealer and had them reset it, but nope, still not fixed. Any ideas? I’m seriously fed up!

Something that might help. I previously experienced a problem with an older Saab's locking system. The child lock's switch was moved, but it was in between settings. I haven't even checked the iX's child lock switch, but I know that moving the Saab's child lock back and forth resolved my problem. It could solve your issue. Good luck.

Annoying! Before heading back to the dealer, try this: Check if the passenger seatbelt buckle or latch is fully engaging. A partially clicked latch can sometimes confuse the system. Also, if you have floor mats or anything under the seat, it could interfere with the sensor connections. If none of that helps, insist on the dealership replacing the sensor or module. It’s a safety system, they shouldn’t mess around with just resets.
